Webinar with candidates for SLA President-Elect: Report

Webinar with candidates for SLA President-Elect: Report

The Florida & Caribbean Chapter hosted a webinar on June 27th with the two President-Elect candidates for the 2013 SLA Board of Directors. Candidates Kate Arnold and Juanita Richardson presented their platforms first and then answered questions from the attendees.

Kate Arnold’s vision for her presidency is about reframing the association and, by expanding, asking the members to reframe themselves as information professionals.

Juanita Richardson wants to pay SLA and the profession forward and to invite the membership to do the same.

As the Chapter invited any SLA member to attend, people from all over the US and the world participated.

Attendees asked a wide range of questions, covering continuing education opportunities, services and opportunities for international members, motivating the volunteers, retaining and attracting members, facing challenging situations, developing the ideas that the association is already working on (for example, the Future Ready blog) and how the candidates intend to make their own visions a reality.

You can learn more about the two President-elect candidates, along with all the candidates for the other board positions, at the URL below. Please note that Joy Banks, our Chapter’s President, is a candidate for Chapter Cabinet Chair-Elect.

The Chapter will hold another webinar after the Annual Conference where attendees will be able to share what they learned and discovered in Chicago. We hope you’ll join us.
