Nominees must have been a member of the Florida Chapter for at least one year prior to the current membership year. In addition, a nominee should have shown leadership in professional associations at local, chapter, state, regional or national levels; contributed to the development, application or use of new or improved methods, techniques and routines; made a significant contribution to professional literature; or conducted studies or research in special librarianship.

Hall of Fame Award (formerly called Lifetime Achievement Award)
Granted to a member of the Chapter at or near the end of an active professional career for an extended and sustained period of distinguished service to the Chapter in all spheres of its activities. The intent of this award is to recognize those individuals who have made outstanding contributions to the growth and development of the Florida and Caribbean Chapter, as a whole, over a period of years. Nominees for this award should have distinguished themselves through one or more of the following: (1) publishing books, articles, manuals, bibliographies, etc., which have furthered the dissemination and understanding of Special Librarianship, (2) teaching/professional speaking in the area of Special Librarianship, (3) participating in the Chapter in a leadership capacity or through noteworthy committee work, or (4) contributing to Special Librarianship through innovative and statewide, regional, or national achievements in one’s own job.

Honorary Librarian Award

President’s Award
The Chapter’s Professional Award given to a librarian or group, who may or may not hold membership in the Association, in recognition of a specific major achievement in, or a specific significant contribution to, the field of special librarianship or information science, which advances the stated objectives of the Special Libraries Association.

Presidential Citations
Awarded to organizations or individuals in recognition or appreciation for services rendered to the Florida and Caribbean Chapter which, while of value to the Florida and Caribbean Chapter, do not otherwise meet the criteria for an existing Chapter award. Nominations for this recognition may be made to any member of the Florida and Caribbean Chapter’s Executive Board. Use of the Nomination Form is not required, but the written nomination statement should describe the service(s) rendered to the Chapter which you believe merit consideration for this recognition.
