FLA searches featured speakers in alternative career paths

The FLA Library Personnel Recruitment Committee is looking for panelists for its 2012 FLA Conference Program Proposal on alternative career paths for librarians and/or library workers. Professionals working in information architecture, knowledge services, and the corporate environment are especially encouraged to participate.

If selected, we will ask you to speak for 10 minutes about your current position and job opportunities in your field. For example, what skills and attributes are employers looking for when they hire a library-trained individual for this type of position?

The FLA Conference 2012 will be April 18 – 20, 2012, at the Wyndham Orlando Resort. Panelists pay their own conference registration and any other costs of attending (although those who are not affiliated with or employed in a library or library-related organization may be eligible for complimentary ‚Äúspeakers only” registration).

If interested, please send a short bio and any past speaking experience to the FLA Library Personnel Recruitment Chair, Rachel Cooke (rcooke@fgcu.edu) by Thursday, August 4, 2011.

The program proposal is subject to acceptance by FLA. The Committee will know whether their proposal was accepted or not in early November, 2011, and panelists will be notified immediately after.
