Chapter President-Elect Dee Baldwin featured in Information Outlook

The September/October 2012 issue of Information Outlook has just come out and it’s an issue that Florida-Caribbean Chapter members will not want to miss.

It features both an interview with Chapter President-Elect Dee Baldwin and the award-winning paper she and Alice Eng presented at Annual Conference in Chicago this summer on the implementation of web-scale discovery tools.

You may already know that Dee is the Associate Dean of the Library at the University of North Florida; however, did you know that she built a university library from scratch in Cameroon? Or that she has a degree in Spanish? In her interview, Dee describes her work experiences, her implementation project, her goals for her Chapter presidency and her experience writing and presenting her paper in the Contributed Papers session in Chicago.

The full paper, “Don’t Touch that String! There Went the Databases,” appears fully after the interview in the print issue. It won the best paper award among all the presentations in the Contributed Papers track.

Fascinating work and a fascinating woman!
