Call for Chapter Travel Grant Applications

The Florida and Caribbean Chapter of SLA is offering grants that will reimburse travel expenses of up to $1,000 to attend SLA 2009 Annual Conference and INFO-EXPO. The Chapter may award one student grant and one professional grant for a total of two $1,000 awards.

STUDENT ELIGIBILITY AND REQUIREMENTS:
To be eligible for a student grant to attend SLA 2009, an applicant must be an accepted candidate for the master’s degree at one of the ALA accredited schools of library science in the state of Florida or the Caribbean and be a member of SLA Florida and Caribbean Chapter. Part-time
and/or online students are eligible as well as full-time students.

Students must be enrolled at the time of the conference.
Applicants who demonstrate an interest in special libraries via applicable
coursework, volunteer work, employment, association activity, etc., will
receive special consideration.
Successful grant recipients will share their conference experience with
their fellow Chapter members after the conference via a method proposed in
the application and agreed to by the Board.
Past award recipients are not eligible.
PROFESSIONAL ELIGIBILITY AND REQUIREMENTS:

To be eligible for a professional grant to attend the SLA Annual
Conference, an applicant must be a current member of the SLA Florida and
Caribbean Chapter.

Successful grant recipients will contribute to the SLA Florida and
Caribbean Chapter for the year following the conference by participating
in a Board Advisory Council or workshop activities under the direction of
the Chapter president.

Past award recipients are not eligible.

GUIDELINES:

Please submit the Application for Travel Grant form as well as a current
resume. Electronic submissions are required.

All materials must be received by Tuesday, March 31, 2009.

Winners will be notified by Friday, April 17, 2009.
